Last Summer
In 2012, more than 25 campers joined the faculty and staff at TAPA for our third summer camp. Campers, volunteers, and teachers spent the hot days of summer making new friends in drama, art, yoga, music, dance, and cooking classes.
This summer will be no different! Boy, do we have big plans!
July Camp
Our first week of camp runs July 1st- 5th. We won’t have camp on the 4th of July but we will have a fun week of fantastic activities planned! Our first theme is “holidays”! We are going to celebrate all of the holidays we missed when TAPA was closed from Hurricane Sandy! We are celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Halloween, and New Years Eve! We are going to have parades, parties, and plenty of fun!
August Camp
August camp meets August 19th – 23rd and 26th – 30th. We are going to have a Storybook Summer and learn all about our favorite authors. Eric Carle, Tomie dePaola, Laura Numeroff, and Jane Yolen are just a few of the featured authors at this year’s camp! We are going to read and do activities centered around these classic books ending with a big Dr. Seuss party!
Why is camp only three weeks?
TAPA camp runs as in interm camp because many of our students are in summer academic or therapeutic programs that week during the summer. We have camp the weeks other camp’s traditionally don’t in order to provide continuity and respite for students and caretakers.
