After Hurricane Sandy everyone at TAPA (in Long Beach!) was reeling from the unexpected losses. I knew that the building was flooded and that we had sustained a significant loss but nothing really hit me until I was in the building clearing things out.
The most simple things would stop me in my tracks; wet student artwork, soggy dance shoes, moldy musical instruments… the more we cleaned the more heartbroken I became.
Several months later my dear friend, Ms. Laura from Impressions Dance, told me that she wanted to help! She asked her dance students to donate their gently used and loved dance recital costumes that no longer fit. Within a few weeks she had five huge boxes of child-sized donations that she gave to TAPA.
We used some of the costumes to create fun “dress up” raffle baskets for Theresa Foundation events but we also used the costumes for our June Showcase. Students were able to have their own unique costumes during our showcase thanks for the generous hearts of fellow dancers.
Thanks to Ms. Laura and her amazing dancers! We are so grateful for your donations!
